How Much is Food Freedom Worth to You
Last week I wrote a little about my own health transformation in which I shared some of the changes I’ve experienced both physically and emotionally as I’ve gone down the healthy path. This week I want to share with you some of the transformations experienced by my clients.

I love my clients and in working with them I get such enjoyment seeing them learn so much to help them grow as people and to find their glow again. I’m also deeply proud of who they become after we work together for 3 or 6 months.

One client who I worked with earlier this year, let’s call her Belinda, came to me wanting help in losing weight. She was frustrated because she had tried so many different diets, and she considered herself healthy, yet she couldn’t change the number on the scales. We spent the few sessions together exploring her diet and lifestyle- she exercised regularly, and indeed ate pretty well most of the time.

But then I started delving deeper into her lifestyle. What we discovered together is that she had issues with binge eating, particularly at night time. This was a pattern she had developed over a number of years which was obviously hindering her weight loss efforts.

From what I’ve learned in doing this work the last two years, bingeing is usually brought on when one or more of the soul foods are needing nourishment. Remember them? Just a quick recap, soul foods is the term I give to the really most important things in your life that need nourishing. They are relationships, spirituality, self-care/rest & relaxation, passion & purpose, and movement. I do a lot of work on these areas with my clients for the reasons I share in this post.

So by working with Belinda on nourishing her soul foods on a deep level, and with her doing the hard work with my support and motivation, she was eventually able to feel more nourished spiritually and emotionally. And as expected the bingeing pretty much stopped.

She started losing weight- slowly at first- but still enough that she had to get new clothes and started to care about her appearance again. As she kept working on her soul food nourishment she continued to gain in confidence and kept losing the weight until she reached her goal.

It took time, it took effort, but she got there and I was like the proud mum at their kid’s graduation at the end of our time working together.

What kind of value would you place on being able to feel like Belinda does now? To be free of the emotional burden of feeling out of control around food, of not knowing what to eat or understanding how your unique body works?

  1. You hit the nail on the head! When I looked at investing in my weight loss recently, I had a HUGE “AHA moment”. I spent nearly every minute of every day feeling out of place in my body. I needed help to make the needed changes to feel good in my body and spirit again. And when I changed my perspective about this, I quickly realized that almost no price was too high to ease this type of suffering! Awesome that you can help people with this at such an affordable rate. You rock lady!

It’s true that we can read all the theory in the world and we might logically know what to do, but it is usually only when we have support, guidance, and motivation (both intrinsic and external) that we can make huge changes in our lives- be that weight loss or anything that takes work and courage.
