Secrets to a Body & Life You Love
I think every woman I have worked with (including myself!) really wants to same thing. You want to be a woman who oozes confidence, who loves eating delicious food but never worries about gaining weight, who is healthy and vibrant, who lives a life of freedom without guilt or shame, who is intuitive, adventurous (in all aspects of life, from the kitchen to the bedroom!), who wants to be authentic and sexy and happy and radiating energy and exuberance for life.

Am I right?

Being this kind of woman might seem unattainable, impossible, way too difficult to achieve.

I’m here to tell you that actually, you CAN be this woman, and that all it takes is five steps.

1. Commitment

Change is hard, but only if you let it be hard. Actually, change can be pretty easy when you just commit to keeping an open mind, trying new things and really surrendering to the process of allowing whatever needs to happen in order for things to change.

Without this commitment, however, you cannot expect to ever make progress and to become the person you so desire to be. Commitment means sticking with it, even when it is difficult or uncomfortable or makes you feel uneasy.

Commitment means making the decision that today is the day that you are going to start taking the actions needed to live your dream life and be the woman you have always imagined being. This is probably the hardest step because you really need to feel this commitment, which requires really looking at your deepest desires and being focused on allowing them into your life. If you can do this, then the next four steps will be easy.

2. Eat only whole, unprocessed foods

Rather than focusing on what you can’t have, I want you to focus on what you can. There is an abundant array of fresh fruits and vegetables, which when you eat a lot of, will mean you stop eating junk foods and processed foods. Your cravings for sugar and unhealthy fats will greatly diminish when you are filling up on real food.

But if you do decide to eat something that isn’t whole or unprocessed, then choose to eat that food with pleasure- no shame or guilt is allowed.

Eating real foods (and not those that come from packets) means you are completely respecting your body and mind and fuelling your body with only the best that nature provides. A radiant woman does not nourish herself with crappy foods.

In order to follow through with this step, you will need to plan. It will require less eating out and more time in the kitchen. It will mean thinking about what you will have for breakfast, lunch dinner and for snacks and dessert ahead of time and ensuring you have all the ingredients you need in stock.

3. Stop dieting

There is no easier way to fail in becoming the woman you want to be than trying to count calories or obsessing over a new fad diet plan. Instead, start thinking about the nutrient content of the food on your plate.

Did you know that there’s the same number of calories in an apple as there is in a can of Coke? Which do you think has the higher nutrient value? Of course, it is the apple. It is a fresh fruit with loads of vitamins and minerals as well as fibre which is really good for your body. Always be thinking about what is more nutritious than worrying about the calories in the food.

Also think about how nourishing every bite is when you eat something whole and unprocessed and how kind you are being to your body for feeding it in such a wonderful way. Know that you can eat as much as you like when the food is fresh and real. Eat mindfully and thank your body for all that it does to keep you healthy and strong.

You might also find it useful to hide your scales and throw away the diet book so you can stop the diet mentality for good.

4. Move your body

Exercise does not mean slogging it out at the gym on the treadmill- unless you really want to do that. Think instead of moving your body in a way that is fun and which makes you feel alive. Choose to exercise not because you will burn calories, but because you will get your endorphins flowing, you will get energized, you will have some fun and feel great afterwards.

There are so many fun ways that you can move for 30 minutes a day that won’t feel like a chore- walking, dancing, swimming, yoga, kick boxing, cycling. Figure out what works and feels great for you and make that activity a part of your day, every day.

5. Embrace your passions and purpose and spend time with people you love

There is soooo much more than just food which feeds you. Your Soul Foods are screaming to be nourished and really, they are the key to being healthy and happy. When you feel radiant and joyful, it is when you are doing things you love, with the people you love. It is really hard to be stressed and anxious when you are laughing and doing things which you are passionate about.

When you spend time with people who make you feel great, when you are in places that feel comfortable and do work that inspires you, then you can’t help but feel alive. And when you feel alive, the steps above really do come easily because you feel good about yourself and who you are. You are the woman I described at the very beginning of this blog.

Spend time every day with people and doing things that light you up from the inside. You can call a friend, start a new passion project, arrange a dinner with friends, plan a fun holiday or weekend getaway- anything that you will find fun and engaging to do.

You really do have the power to make the changes in your life that you need to have the life you so desire.   1. As a solopreneur who work-from-home, I walk WAY less than I used to (when i worked in an office), so I recently started taking “dance breaks” within the day. I head downstairs – away from the office/computer – and turn on my iPod’s dance-mix. Fifteen minutes two or three times a day makes for a great healthy move-your-bod break, and it also helps my mind disconnect from the to-dos. An unexpected upside? I sometimes come back to my desk with ideas or connections I didn’t have before. Movement begets movement. In all ways. 🙂
